Celebrating Women in Contemporary Art
Arts Rutherglen is celebrating Women in Cotemporary Art to mark this year’s International Women’s Day on Sunday the 8th of March. Over brunch, two local artists, Helen Hayes and Kerry Ware will each speak ‘their views’ on art in today’s society and share their experiences over the years as emerging female contemporary artists. Helen Hayes, a Sculptor from Chiltern, creates unique pieces of work which look terrific in either the contemporary home or business, or more commonly, the garden. Kerry Ware is a Rutherglen based artists who enjoys creating art in a number of different mediums which reflect on her extensive travel experiences. From March 7 to 14, Kerry, Helen and other local female contemporary artists will feature their work at participating Main Street businesses and wineries. The Exhibition is expected to be well received by the hundreds of visitors flocking to the area for the annual Tastes of Rutherglen Festival. The brunch, to be held at the renowned Tuileries Café will see guests indulge in morning favourites including eggs Benedict, eggs royale, bacon and eggs as well as pancakes and Danish pastries. Arts Rutherglen formed four years ago to compliment Rutherglen’s diverse culture. The group hosts and promotes Theatre productions, music and film events, visual arts exhibitions and popular culture.
